There are three main phases of initial flight training to earn a Private Pilot License. Concurrent with these phases, you will need to obtain a medical certificate and pass the knowledge test.
In the first phase of training, we will fly together so you can learn basic aircraft control, performance maneuvers, take-offs and landings, and radio communications.
We will also discuss and practice how to handle emergency situations so that you are fully comfortable in the aircraft.
Now, you get to practice these maneuvers on your own, from your home airport.
Without the benefit (and distraction) of having a flight instructor on board, you can gain confidence under benign weather conditions and close to home.
You now learn to navigate to airports further afield.
You will learn how to check the weather, calculate aircraft performance, plan a flight, and fly the plan that you develop.
We will also fly at night, a uniquely rewarding experience.
Once you're comfortable with flying the aircraft, navigating along your planned route, and commuicating on the radio, you will refine your skills to get ready for the practical test -- commonly referred to as the checkride.
Congratulations, you're now a private pilot! You can share your accomplishments with family and friends via $100 hamburgers, flightseeing tours, weekend getaways or plan longer trips.
